- French Faience Quimper Covered Cheese Keeper Dish Bagpipes and Bows, ff313
Offered is this beautiful covered cheese keeper dish from Henriot Quimper.
The underplate is in the "bagpipe" shape with a bow on the top and bottom. It is hand painted with sprays of heather and yellow gorse flowers.
The cheese cover is hand painted with the same floral decorations as the platter. It has blue on white "decore riche" that frames the bottom of the bell cover. The handle is in the form of the bagpipe part that you play with your fingers and the mouth piece is on the other side pointing to musician playing the horn while sitting and looking at the beautiful countryside.
The platter measures about 11 inches long and 9 wide. It stands 5 inches tall.
The cheese bell measures 6 inches wide.
Both pieces are well marked and matches as seen in photo. After looking at my makers marks book, this was made by the Henriot factory between 1922-1968.
This is in excellent condition with no chips, or cracks.
