Offered is this beautiful rare antique French Faience wall plate or wall plaque from my last trip to France.
This is from the oldest faience factory in France. It was known as the BOUT DU MONDE which means the end of the earth. It opened in 1648 in Nevers which is in central France. In 1875 Antoine Montaignon bought it. Francois-Henri Signoret was the master faienciere and he came up with the famous green bow.
This piece is totally hand painted.
It features a very lovely decor with a central theme of a vase and planter filled with colorful blooming flowers and leaves. The scalloped rim is trimmed in cobalt blue.
It measures 9.5 inches in diameter, the perfect size for display. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. This has only been used as a display item. It has an old metal wire on the back for hanging on your wall.
This will be a lovely addition to your antique French faience or majolica collection.
