Offered to grace any room of your home is this absolutely gorgeous huge antique majolica jardiniere and its matching pedestal.
Made by the Sarreguemines majolica company in the now east of France. When this set was made in the late 1800's, Sarreguemines belonged to Germany.
Both the planter and the pedestal are well marked on the bottom.
The jardiniere planter is very large and dramatic with a fluted rim edge is pink with brushed gold. It goes down to a yellow band that blends into brown. Under that is a wavy gold separation with brushed gold that goes into solid dark brown. Out of each side is a horned Bacchus, the god of wine. His crossed horns turn into grape vines with leaves going around the jardiniere. The leaves and his horns are also dappled in gold. The interior is a brilliant Robin Egg blue.
This jardiniere planter is in excellent antique condition with no chip or cracks. It does have overall glaze crazing which is normal and expected for a piece of this age.
The planter jardiniere measures 50 inches in circumference, 19 inches from Bacchus to Bacchus and stands 12 inches tall.
The pedestal is just as amazing! The top Ionic capital is decorated with acanthus leaves which then depends into a pink, yellow, brown fluted center pillar. It then has large acanthus leaves all around and a square base also with acanthus leaves.
This pedestal measures 40.5 inches tall. It has a 12 x 12 inch foot and an 11 x 11 top. The complete set measures about 52 inches tall or about 4.5 feet tall!!!
The pedestal is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. It does have deep crazing on the top of the pedestal that I can feel with the finger but this is normal and expected for a piece this old.
Shipping.... This is available for local pickup only. The pedestal base is very heavy. We will be happy to deliver this to you if you are in the Florida area. This will make your home seem like a palace. This is definitely a museum quality piece!
