Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this beautiful antique hand painted plate from my last trip to France.
Hand painted and signed under glaze in blue by Henri Chaumeil, this was done between 1890-1920. It is also marked "Vieux Strasbourg, Fait Main" in black over glaze and an old paper ticket that says "898".
It features a scalloped and "combed" rim with the central theme of a pivoine or peony flower with sprays of several other pretty types of flowers and green leaves. Just stunning!!
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs!! There is a pin prick in the white enamel on the front as seen in photo and several kiln marks and wear on the back as seen in photo and is normal for antique faience and majolica.
It is a nice large piece that measures 9.75 inches in diameter, the perfect size for display or use.
Add this to your antique French faience collection today or give as a fabulous gift!!
