Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this lovely antique French majolica asparagus platter.
Made in the 1800's by the well known Luneville faience and majolica factory, it is well marked on the back with "LUNEVILLE" the form number "531G" and a "Key" symbol.
You find the same platter on page 16 in "Artichauts et asperges en barbotine".
It has a scalloped basketweave rim in dark brown, there are two spots on the rim where the patern is missing, see photo 6 and 10. Other than that, there are no chips or cracks!!
It features strawberries and leaves on two edges and strawberry flowers and leaves on the other two edges. The center features a single delicate fern leaf along with two purple, green and white asparagus stalks. Just gorgeous!!!
It measures a little over 12.5 inches long and almost 10.75 inches wide.
