- Antique Haviland Limoges Turkey Oyster Plate c.1800's, op338
Offered for your private collection is this beautiful antique Haviland Limoges Turkey oyster plate.
I found this one along with two others at the same estate as seen in photo 11. Each are listed and sold separately.
This one is marked with the numbers 3547/73 on the back. My reference book states as seen in photo 10 that these "turkey design" plates were very popular and Haviland produced and exported these to a variety of American import firms. The other two plates in photo 11 have the Burley import mark on the back as seen in photo 12.
The Chicago Antiques Guide says 'Burley and Company was founded in 1884, but had been previously known as Burley and Tyrell before that, and had advertised themselves as the largest importers of china and glassware. They ordered from some of the best manufactures of the day including Minton, Haviland, Copland-Spode and others. In some cases they commissioned items exclusively for Burley & Co.'
As you can see in photo 9, this is the same Havilland turkey design oyster plate as in photo on page 73 in my reference book.
It features flowers and leaves in three different sections and has 5 wells for oysters.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks!
It measures just over 8.5 inches in diameter.
This will look lovely in any room of your home!
Add this to your personal collection today or give as a fabulous antique gift!
Be sure to see all of our Oyster Plates and items For Your Table in our store!
If you wish to make an offer on this beautiful antique oyster plate, please do so.
