- Antique Square Porcelain Oyster Plate c.1800’s, op473
Offered for your personal collection is this beautiful antique porcelain oyster plate.
It is marked on the back with '0628'. We believe this was made in Germany or Austria before 1890.
It has a scalloped yet square shape. It has 5 wells for oysters, two wells for mussels and a well for sauce or lemon.
The pink background is textured, almost alligator like, very cool!
The oyster shells have "oyster scars" as if you have already removed the oysters from the shells. There is very nice grey shading inside the oyster shells which gives lifelike depth to the shells!
The well for lemon and the rim are trimmed in gold which is lightly worn in some places.
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks! There are two pinholes in the porcelain which is normal with antique porcelain.
It measures almost 8 inches wide.
This will look amazing in any room of your home!
Add this to your private collection today or give as a fabulous antique gift!
