Offered for your private collection is this beautiful antique vintage covered sardine box with attached under plate.
Made by Henri Delcourt between 1913 and 1935.
The colors are cobalt blue, green, yellow and orange on a white background.
The lid features two fish with their tails entwined to form a handle. The tail was at one time broken and repaired.
The rest of the lid, the box and the under plate are in fabulous condition with no chips or cracks!!
This piece is a nice large size, the under plate measures 9 inches long by 7.5 inches wide. The sardine box measures 6 inches long by 4.5 inches wide and the lid measures 6.5 inches long by 5 inches wide. With the lid on, it stands 6.25 inches tall.
The lid is signed "Lisieux" which is a town in the Calvados region of France.
The bottom is well signed by Henri Delcourt.
