Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this very rare and hard to find French majolica mantel clock and its matching vases.
Made by the well known Sarreguemines majolca company in the 1920's.
This set features a large French sail ship on rough waters.
This antique set is in excellent condition with no chips!! There are a few light hairlines on the vases as seen in photo 8 and overall glaze crazing which is all normal for antique majolica.
Your local watch repair guy can get you a clock to fit the large ship, you can even find them online.
These pieces are all well marked with the 1920's ESDEVE SARREGUEMINES FRANCE mark along with the impressed numbers "5332 MY 531p" for the vases and the clock has the impressed numbers "5331 531M".
The clock centerpiece measures 10.75 inches long, 2.75 inches wide and stands 7.5 inches tall. The clock hole opening is 6 cm. wide and 4 cm. deep.
The vases measure almost 4 inches long, 2.75 inches wide and 6.25 inches tall.
These are a wonderful example of the transition from art nouveau to art deco.
