Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this very rare lovely hand painted Limoges game bird plate.
The plate was made by the Barny & Rigoni porcelain company in Limoges, France. It has the green whiteware mark of 1894 and was hand painted by the Limoges artist L.Thabard. It has the green overglaze decorating mark that dates this plate to have been hand painted in their studio between 1904-1906. This company only existed from 1894-1906 and the pieces made during this time were highly decorated, after that new owners changed the name to La Porcelain Limousine.
It features an ornately scrolled, scalloped and molded hand painted gold rim with gold floral leaf accents on a light pink and white rim.
The center scene is of an alert pair of hand painted blue chested, brown crested game birds just comming out of the forrest brush.
It is in excellent condition with no chips! It does have a light hairline, as seen in photo. Some light wear on the gold on the points which is normal for a piece of this age.
It measures 9.5 inches in diameter.
