Offered for your private collection is this lovely antique oyster plate made in the 1800's.
I found this same mold on page 117 in my oyster plate reference book which stated this was a "French porcelain oyster plate, unmarked".
It features scalloped rim trimmed in gold. It has 6 oyster wells in pink outlined with a light brown and a light brown oyster "scar" in each foot. Around the rim of each oyster well are deeply impressed decorative molds and the impressed center well where you can put lemon.
It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks! It has some light wear on the high points and on the gold on the rim from age and use which is normal and to be expected from an item this old.
It measures just over 8 inches in diameter, the perfect size for display or use.
