- Antique Majolica Fern & Greek Key Platter c.1800's, gm852 (THIS ITEM HAS SOLD)
Offered for your private collection is this fabulous antique majolica handled platter.
This platter is unmarked. I have antique plates in this pattern from different French and German majolica factories.
I have seen this from the Faist/ Villeroy & Boch factory in Schramberg, Germany, and from the Sarreguemines, Gien, Clairefontaine and the Choisy-le-Roi majolica factory in France.
As this one is not marked, we do know it was made before 1891, but which factory, we do not know.
This beautiful platter features forest ferns, leaves and flowers held together with a purpleish-blue ribbon tied into a bow on a stippled background.
The border and handles features a lovely pearled and greek key pattern.
It has a high gloss and deep rich colors!
It is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks! There are two very small glaze flakes on the rim that are not seen but felt with the finger and the glaze flake on the bottom side shown in photo, this is normal and expected with antique majolica.
The handles are in excellent condition and have never been broken!
It measures almost 12 inches long and just over 8 inches wide.
Add this to your personal collection today or give as a superb gift to someone you love!
Be sure to see all of our Platters and Majolica in our store!
