Offered for your private collection is this gorgeous antique French faience plate.
While researching this I came upon this blurb..."In the 18th century, the pieces were not marked. The manufacture did not file any particular marks with the courts except one in 1885. From 1830 we see marks mostly painted by hand.... Saint Clement could be painted fully or abbreviated and sometimes with numbers." So this was made before 1830.
This beautiful antique plate features a scalloped and "combed" rim. The center features the Imperial eagle which represented Emperor Napoleon I. He was emperor from 1804-1814 so this defiantly falls in that timeline.
The eagle wears the emperial crown and lightning bolts shoot from his feet.
The next to last photo is of a plate from Les Islettes that I found in one of my reference books.
This plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks! It has stilt marks on the back from the kiln and some light surface wear also on the back.
It measures almost 10 inches in diameter.
This is a stunning item for display or use.
Add this to your personal collection today or give as a fabulous antique gift!
