- Antique Havilland Limoges Hand Painted Platter Grapes & Leaves, L105
Offered for your private collection is this fabulous antique Haviland Limoges Handled tray, circa 1894- painted in 1911.
This platter was hand painted in on December 9th, 1911 by Josephine Dando Sill. Signed on the back by her with the date!! From the reserch I did on her, she had ties to the Hibbitt family and the Sharpless family. Her husband was Ralph Morgan and they lived in Pennsylvania.
It was very common for women of high class families to paint their own porcelain, no tv, so it was a nice way to pass time. I must say she did a great job!!
This beautiful platter features green, purple and dark purple grapes and leaves. There is a nice amount of gold on the handles and around the rim.
It measures just over 10.5 inches wide with handles.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs!! I see a few small lines in the paint that is not seen unless you really scrutinize, see photos. This is just an amazing piece for being painted 100 years ago!!
This will be such a wonderful antique Limoges gift to give and you have some background on the artist!!! Or, add this beautiful antique Limoges platter to your collection today!!!
