Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this beautiful antique hand painted plate.
It is signed by Henri Chaumeil who we know was born in 1877, he worked with his father, Alcide Chaumeil, in their Paris factory and did this type of decoration between 1890-1920, when his father died in 1919 Henri went on to create his own art work in crackled glaze pottery.
Hand painted and signed under glaze by Henri Chaumeil. It is also marked with "Decor Strasbourg Fait Main" or 'Old Strasbourg, hand made' which is written over the glaze.
It features a scalloped rim with flowers and a central bouquet of a rose with wild flowers. Just stunning!!
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs!! There are kiln marks and some wear on the back which is normal for antique faience.
It is a nice large plate that measures just over 9.5 inches in diameter, the perfect size for display or use.
