- Antique Majolica Handled Vase Pitcher c.1850-1890 Austria, gm760
Offered for your collecting pleasure is this absolutely wonderful antique Austrian majolica spill vase. You may also call it an urn or a pitcher, no matter what you call it, you have to call it beautiful!!!
Made between 1850-1880, this beautiful majolica handled vase features medallions on both sides graced by different types of flowers.
The colors are a golden ocher for the spout and the frame of the medallions. The flowers on one side which are pink and yellow with green leaves and a tanish brown on the other side are on a bloodwine red background inside the medallion. The notched twig handle is brown and seperating the medallions is a wonderful deep green-blue teal color.
It measures 7.5 inches tall and 4.25 inches wide.
It is in excellent condition for its great age with only the tiniest nibble on the very edge of the lip of the pouring spout that you really only feel with the finger. Normal for antique Majolica this old.
It is well marked with the numbers "5677" impressed in the clay and "189" in paint underglaze.
