Made by the Choisy-le-Roi faience factory of Choisy-le-Roi, France produced majolica from 1860 until 1910.
This wall pocket is marked with both the makersmark impressed in the clay and the black makersmark stamp under glaze. The HB stands for Hippolyte Boulenger, a dircetor at the pottery. This factory made some of the most delicate majolica produced in France.
This wall pocket is a great example of the beauty of work created in this factory. It features pink flowers and green leaves of a brown and grey basketweave background.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It has overall glaze crazing which is normal and expected with antique majolica.
